As is well known, beauty is in the eye of the house yacht beholder

That houseboats The aim of the interior designers' design was not necessarily to be “floating boxes”, but to be able to integrate themselves into a marina between motor and sailing yachts with maritime lines.

The independent interior designers and lighting designers have been known in the boating industry as passionate motorboat drivers for 12 years and charter the legendary steel displacers on the Baltic Sea coast. What began just by the way in 2005 on its own jetty on the edge of Lübeck's old town has developed into a real mainstay.

However, the joy and work with the motor yachts had a snag: in winter, the yachts lie high and dry, and the desire to enjoy the atmosphere on and on the water even in the winter months remained.

What could be more obvious than thinking about a floating apartment.

After initial dreaming and drafting, it quickly became clear that something more is developing here than just fulfilling one's own wishes. The many years of experience as a charterer for the noble Linssen yachts and the know-how of interior designers and lighting designers combined to form an ideal planning symbiosis. The result is a floating apartment on 2 levels, not a yacht, not a simple houseboat or a floating house, no it is a houseboat.

The two planners set themselves extensive specifications for equipment, room layout and appearance. Existing and future guidelines for floating houses and houseboats are taken into account in the draft; the moving or lying type is structurally identical.

The flowing lines of the characteristic, circumferential roof line characterize the overall picture. The “upper floor” is hidden behind the visually recessed roof segment. The requirement to create 2 separate bedrooms with a free-standing double bed, a separate bathroom and a private outdoor area has been achieved.

In addition to the pleasing appearance, the designers set themselves a number of requirements to be solved. The consistent dimensioning of the bedrooms has been successful. To ensure privacy, the rooms in the building should not touch each other or even be next to each other. With a bed size of 160 x 200cm, the beds are free-standing on 3 sides. The 2.75 m wide bedrooms each have their own outdoor area. The hidden, 4 square meter loggia in the rear area between the two outdoor storage spaces is very successful. These storage spaces house the connection areas for water and electricity, as well as a rear shower. Fishing equipment, rubber boots and things that have no place in the house are stored here. The 18m² roof terrace in the rear area is very sheltered

Here, the lines of the jump dress are reminiscent of the aft deck of classic motor yachts. This appearance is desired, the planner's aim was to give the houseboat a yachting flair, just a “House yacht” to design.

No corridor please!

What sounds like a call for help was implemented. Hallways are wasted spaces; planners were not tempted by this false generosity. The result is bright and spacious rooms. The central room with a spacious kitchen, dining area and large corner sofa is decisive. The room, which is glazed on 3 sides, can be shielded and illuminated differently with movable slat walls. The sophisticated furnishing offers residents and guests a high quality of living.

The “media pulpit” is located at the front, in the living area, protected behind glass and with the best panoramic view. The steering station is here during the day and TV or home cinema in the evening.

The future is clean, the house yacht is electric.

45 solar modules with a total output of 6.75kWp make the house yacht stand out from the energy supply independently. The target battery capacity will be in the order of 20 kWh.

At a speed of 6 km/h, the calculated travel time is 6 hours. If the batteries are well supplied when the weather is nice, a longer journey time is certainly to be expected. Out of driving season and at night, the houseboats In a marina, where energy requirements could be supplemented by shore power, if necessary.

The premiere version is also equipped with a 6.4KW generator. This yacht is chartered and occasionally covers longer distances as a demonstration yacht; the hybrid version allows travel times beyond the possible battery capacity.

No one needs to freeze!

Underfloor heating, supplemented by a fireplace, ensures a pleasant on-board climate in all seasons. The year-round use of the house yacht requires largely self-sufficient building technology. A small biological sewage treatment plant with a purification capacity for a 4-person household supports the self-sufficiency of house yachts.

Buying or chartering a houseboat?

The purchase prices include equipment and equipment for chartering. The weekly charter prices are between 980, - € and 2,290.- €. Optionally, a driver-license-free dinghy can also be rented.

In the 2018 season, the year-round rental of houseboats. Ideal before a potential purchase and investment in a wonderful floating apartment that houseboat to test extensively.

It makes no difference whether trips are made to the neighboring lagoon and lagoon areas or enjoy life on board in the beautiful surroundings of the marina, between sailing and motor boats.
